Edison Rex #1 got a makeover, thanks to the inestimable Dennis Culver. If you prefer the version where Han Shot First, just decline the update when you open up the issue. But if you want to check out the new hotness, let the update roll. And if you haven’t tried out Edison Rex yet, what the heck are you waiting for?!
I decided to remaster some of the art on the first issue of Edison Rex.
Mostly heads and hands in various panels. Getting the characters more on model with the rest of the series plus a new cover featured above.
Normally I don’t believe in going backwards on this kind of stuff but I realized that digital changes things in a pretty significant way. If someone decides they want to check out Edison Rex or any book digitally they’re not likely to pick up the latest issue. They’re going to start with the first one because it never sells out and is always on sale. So if that’s the case the first issue is always the first impression of the book and I figure it needs to look as good as I can make it.
So that’s what I did. It’s better looking and more cohesive with the rest of the series. You can still see the old pages floating around online, on the Pirate Bay, and in the print collection(although I imagine we’ll update it in future printings) if you want to compare.
If you’ve never read the book before then now is the best possible time to check it out:

There are no words to describe just how freaking cool this is.
Chris Pyrate is a triumph and a treasure, an artist who’s work I adore. Had the pleasure of collaborating with him on our short comic Cool Lobster, which you can read right here, right now. So you can imagine my jaw hitting the floor when I saw his pinup inspired by D4VE. Just wow.
Big, big thanks to Chris for doing this.
You can also read issue one now! This story is a new twist on the classic tale of Frankenstein set in an art college with a lot of beautiful looking people. Francesca Ciregia has really brought this story to life and her art is absolutely gorgeous. Pick up an issue and you’ll see what I’m talking about!
Use this pre-order form to make sure you get your copy of AMELIA COLE AND THE HIDDEN WAR. You can download a hi-res printable version RIGHT HERE.
Pre-ordering is key to helping comics you like keep going. With pre-orders shops know there is demand for a book in a very crowded marketplace and that helps them spend their money wisely. That, in turn, allows books you love to flourish! It helps everyone. So, if you’re going to your local store, and like Amelia Cole, pre-order volume 2 today. Thanks.
Bored bookstore clerks across the USA posing with book covers over their bodies, as seen on Buzzfeed! And they even did one with RLP:
There’s plenty more bookstore hi-jinks where this came from, and you can follow these kooky kids right here on Tumblr too: http://corpuslibris.tumblr.com/
"D4VE is a deeply human story about robots and aliens. It will resonate with anyone who’s felt trapped in a dead-end job; anyone who’s felt they weren’t living up to their full potential; anyone who’s questioned their purpose in this world, and their place in the universe. In other words: it will resonate with every single one of us.
On top of all that, it’s a gorgeous, exquisitely well-crafted comic. D4VE is simply brilliant.”
